Sandbags to
Sand dunes 2010
We decided that we would try and raise money for charity whilst doing this trip. The three charities we have chosen are all very close to our hearts Most of the money will be raised at specific events in the run up to the
expedition however we hope that if you are reading this you might be inspired to give a little.
Hope and Homes for Children believe that, above all else, every child should grow up within a caring family.
They work together with children, their families and communities across Central and Eastern Europe and Africa to ensure that children grow up in an environment where they have the opportunity to fulfil their potential. They move children out of institutions into family-based care, help keep together families at risk of breakdown due to the pressures of poverty, disease or conflict and work to prevent child abandonment.
We will hopefully be visiting the operations in Bosnia, Rwanda (see video below) and South Africa.
James' father, Charles, died 10 years ago from
Prostate Cancer. He was 46 when he died, fit, fun,
a father of three. This is James and Charles on the right
(please excuse the bowl haircut - it was trendy in the 80s
wasn't it?). Prostate Cancer continues to be one of the biggest killers in men in the UK but its profile has never been high due to its 'embarassing' nature. The Prostate Cancer Charity helps raise awareness and also funds vital research into the disease which may, in the long term, produce a cure for the disease.

Out of a total £25 million raised so far, £9 million has been put aside for a bespoke rehabilitation swimming pool at Headly Court. H4H continues to raise money and fights for our wounded soldiers by supporting Combat Stress (which helps heal the scars we can not see), and many other good causes to help our lads.
